About Kimberly Timmons
We’ve all felt a moment where we want time to stand still. Learning to be an adult while simultaneously realizing that this is the youngest you’ll ever be can lead to feelings of dread and existentialism. Facing this reality is the desire to try and capture time’s memory. My work focuses on the importance of being human while remembering to embrace the youthful wonder we all have. To find acceptance and grapple with the fears of death, aging, and existence. As overwhelming as this world can be, with an imaginative and restorative view, my art focuses on the bright and adventurous side of living. To face the darkness through a bubblegum world. A bright softness in the depravity and chaos of living. Oil paintings, collages, and the occasional multimedia sculpture are the vessels of this colorful fantasy. My pieces incorporate saturated hues, organic shapes, and dream-like imagery. These works invite viewers to investigate their own lives and not only look at the uncertainty of where they’re going but also to cherish where they’ve been. Invoking these feelings of fear and optimism is how I present an appreciation for the little things in life.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where did you go to school?
I graduated in 2023 with my BFA in Studio Art and Design from the University of Idaho.
Are you influenced by any painters or illustrators in particular?
My work is influenced by anything fun, whimsical, and a little bit dark! The artists I’m inspired by the most are Brandi Milne, Shanna Van Maurik, Alister Dippner, and Miles Johnston. All of their work is dreamlike and playful which is something I strive to accomplish within my own work.
What medium do you use?
I love to explore all mediums and tend to work back and forth between 2D and 3D. First and foremost my work involved oil painting on cradled panels but I have also fallen in love with sculpture using ceramics, wood, metal, and heavy-body acrylics.
Do you sell your artwork? /Do you have prints for sale?/Do you take commissions?
Most of the artwork I create is available for sale. I also take commissions through my email and social media. If you see a piece you’re interested in you can always submit an inquiry.
